Wine
September is the month of the grape harvest, celebrated in every corner of the region with a lot of events dedicated to grapes.
Between the areas of Bolgheri, Maremma and Chianti, there are numerous events:
Novello in festa in Cenaia (Pi)

Festa del vino novello e dell’olio nuovo in Montecarlo (Lu)

Evo Oil
The mild climate and fertile soils make Tuscan extra virgin olive oil (EVO) among the most recognized and appreciated in the world.
If September, by tradition, is the month of the grape harvest, in October comes the time to pick the olives. The recipes that have always accompanied EVO oil on the table are:
- The snack with a slice of toasted bread seasoned with olive oil
- Pasta in bianco: a good plate of pasta seasoned only with oil and parmesan
Among the most famous producers of olive oil, Giorgio Franci, who, from the heart of Val d’Orcia, won the award for best company of the year in 2019. Maremma Toscana is also known for its very high quality extra virgin olive oil, characterized by a unique lightness and an unparalleled intense flavor.
Truffle
The true king of these lands is certainly the truffle. With an incomparable flavor and smell, there are numerous species that ripen at different times of the year: in autumn the white truffle; in winter the black truffle and the brumale; always in winter and spring the marzuolo truffle; in summer and autumn the scorzone truffle and the uncinato truffle.
To promote this unique product, the National Association of Truffle Cities was born, which in Tuscany has many members, from Monte Amiata to San Miniato, up to Palaia and San Giovanni d’Asso.
