Day Trip to the Terme di Sassetta from Marina di Bibbona

The Terme di Sassetta, 40 minutes from Hotel Marinetta: thermal pools and nature in the Val di Cornia. A perfect wellness day trip from the Etruscan Coast.

Less than 40 minutes from Hotel Marinetta, the Terme di Sassetta is one of the most authentic wellness experiences on the Etruscan Coast. A day in an unspoilt natural setting, far from the noise, to regenerate body and mind.

A Wellness Retreat in the Heart of Nature

The Terme di Sassetta are located within the agriturismo “La Cerreta“, a 75-hectare biodynamic estate surrounded by dense Mediterranean maquis, in the Pian delle Vigne valley near Sassetta. Access is via a dirt track winding through woodland, vineyards and olive groves, a decompression in itself.

Here, television and Wi-Fi disappear. In their place: the silence of the forest, the scent of chestnut trees and the warmth of water that rises naturally from the earth at 51°C.

The Thermal Water and Its Benefits

The water at the Terme di Sassetta is a hyperthermal sulphate-calcium water, rich in sulphates, calcium, minerals and trace elements. It has been used since antiquity — the Etruscans were already aware of its healing properties, for its beneficial effects on the respiratory system, the skin and the musculoskeletal system. The pools are treated with oxygen, without chlorine, to preserve all the natural properties of the water intact.

The Thermal Circuit

The circuit unfolds between indoor and outdoor spaces along a route designed to invite you to slow down: three balneotherapy pools at decreasing temperatures, a hammam built from river stones, an aromatic bio-sauna, sensory showers and a Kneipp path alternating hot and cold. A relaxation area with herbal teas and infusions made on the estate completes the experience.

How to Get There from Hotel Marinetta

The drive takes approximately 35–40 minutes. From Marina di Bibbona, take the SS1 Aurelia northbound to the Donoratico exit, then follow signs for Castagneto Carducci and Sassetta (approximately 7 km). At the entrance to the village, turn left following the signs for La Cerreta.

When to Go

The terme are open all year round, making this an ideal excursion even outside the main beach season. A half-day at the thermal baths combines naturally with a morning in the nearby medieval villages – Sassetta, Castagneto Carducci or Bolgheri – before returning to the hotel for dinner.
